Starting psychiatric care can feel intimidating. Many people aren’t sure what to expect, how appointments work, or whether they’ll actually feel listened to.

At Breakthrough HQ, we’re intentional about how care is delivered. Our approach to psychiatric care is thoughtful, collaborative, and structured — without feeling rushed or impersonal.

Your First Appointment at Breakthrough HQ

Initial psychiatric evaluations at Breakthrough HQ are 60 minutes. This applies whether you are a new patient or an established patient seeking care for a new concern or service.

That time is intentional.

Your first visit focuses on understanding the full picture, including:

  • current symptoms and concerns

  • mental health and medical history

  • life stressors and daily functioning

  • past treatments and responses

  • questions, goals, and priorities

Appointments are never rushed. We don’t aim to finish early — we aim to finish on time. We value your time and want each visit to feel thorough, respectful, and focused.

A Collaborative Approach to Psychiatric Care

Psychiatric care at Breakthrough HQ is collaborative. Patients are encouraged to be active participants in their care, ask questions, and share what feels important to them.

While psychiatry medication management  is medical and evidence-based, many patients describe appointments as more conversational and supportive than they expected from a psychiatric visit.

Follow-Ups and Ongoing Treatment

Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes and are designed to support continuity and long-term progress.

Follow-up frequency is individualized. Some patients prefer closer follow-ups early in treatment, while others — once stable — are seen every three months.

During follow-ups, we focus on:

  • response to treatment and symptom changes

  • side effects or concerns

  • medication adjustments when appropriate

  • new or ongoing life stressors

Monitoring response to treatment is a priority, and changes are made thoughtfully over time.

Assessments, Labs, and Coordinated Care

When clinically appropriate, care may also include:

  • diagnostic screenings or structured assessments

  • lab work to evaluate overall health or medication safety

  • coordination with outside providers, including therapists, primary care providers, or specialists

We value collaboration and regularly work with other providers to support your care.
